Namibia is mostly seen as an arid country. With only four months of rain annually. In these four months Namibia's barren land is transformed in to a salient paradise. The weather is cool and relaxing. The locals call it baby making weather. The dames like the Naute, Von Bach, Hardap, Swakoppoort and Oshana pans are filled with water. Everything flourishes. As life is, nothing is for free. This dreamland comes with a hefty price.

Water is the essence of life. Namibia's dry open lands are altered to a land filled with beautiful field flowers and green grass. This is not only a sight for soar eyes as it is feast for all the feral animals in the country. The raining season is Christmas for Namibia's nature. Farmers welcome it with open arms. The extra rain is a scrumptious treat for their crop and livestock. The Oshana Pans has massive gatherings of all animals, predator and prey alike. Namibia is also a primitive country with many tribes living the traditional everyday life. These tribes such as the San people, the Ovahimbas, and many other tribes cherish the rain. They celebrate it thanking their God for the blessing.

People in Namibia living a more modern livelihood have some what a different perspective. Most people donÒt like too much rain as they feel confined to their homes. Most women hate it as they have difficulties with the fizz in their hair. Stay at home mothers doesn't like it because they canÒt do the weeks laundry. Most men don't like it since their cars are always dirty. Folks living in the north especially don't like it since they have a high flood risk. These floods leave them destitute because their homes are destroyed. Aid takes long to arrive as roads are destroyed and dangerous to drive even with big cars like busses and SUV's. Their personal possessions like their cars and furniture are carried away by the strong flowing river. Lives are lost from drowning, Cholera and malnutrition. The obstruction of transport is one of their main concerns as many people for the reason that roads are blocked by over flowing rivers. Accidents happen more easily, for instance small vehicles like Volkswagen Golf's, Opel's, Toyota Conquest's can easily be carried away when rivers flow across the roads. Many lives have been lost because individuals think their cars are sturdy enough to handle these strong flows. People driving big cars like Chevrolet, Nissan, Ford and Isuzu double Caps should be cautious when driving through dirt and gravel roads. Driving in heavy rains is also very dangerous as sight distance is reduced, roads are treacherously slippery and collisions come about easily. Faulty car parts should be replaced with new spare parts to ensure their own safety and the safety of other road users.

Namibia is truly a harmonious place to live during the rainy season. The weather is togetherÒ as the locals say. But even harmony comes with a price.
